About this place
Set in the quiet neighborhood of Suido in Bunkyo Ward, Suido Cafe offers a serene setting where visitors can enjoy thoughtfully sourced meals and teas surrounded by ceramic artwork and rotating exhibitions.
A centerpiece of the daytime menu is the wheat-free chicken curry, seasoned with aromatic spices, pesticide-free onions, and garlic. Tender chunks of Iwate Prefecture chicken thigh fall apart at the touch of a spoon, yielding deep flavor with gentle, balanced heat. Guests can also choose Taiwanese-style lu rou fan (braised minced pork), simmered to a savory-sweet glaze with star anise and Asanuma soy sauce brewed in Iwate. Both dishes are paired with Sasashigure rice from Yuza Town in Yamagata Prefecture, milled in-house from brown rice.
For dessert or an afternoon tea break, the homemade custard pudding is a standout, made with rich Kin no Kuwatama eggs from Kanae Poultry Farm in Kagawa Prefecture and fragrant Madagascar vanilla beans. Firm and rich with deep yolk flavor, it pairs naturally with pour-over coffee brewed from organic Peruvian beans or Royal Milk Tea prepared with Fortnum & Mason leaves. The house-made beverage lineup also features refreshing options like ginger ale crafted with Kochi ginger, pesticide-free lemons from Iwagi Island in Ehime, and traditional golden sugar.
Operating from Thursday through Sunday with comfortable table seating, the cafe accommodates solo diners as easily as small gatherings. Surrounded by handcrafted ceramics and gallery pieces, it is a calm venue for lingering over unhurried dishes and sweets.
